They serve as a basis for negotiations and can contribute to the successful completion of a transaction. <\/p><p>The importance of Due Diligence has increased in recent years as companies and investors have become increasingly cautious in conducting business. Although these set goals, they must be implemented into national law by each member state. The result: 27 different interpretations and implementations. What counts as legally compliant identification in Germany can differ significantly from the requirements in France, Spain, or Italy. For internationally active banks and financial service providers, this has previously meant high costs, complex processes, and separate onboarding journeys for each market. This model ends with the AMLR. As a regulation, it applies directly in all EU member states and no longer requires national implementation. The scope for different interpretations is thereby significantly reduced.       <\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/DE\/legal-content\/summary\/preventing-abuse-of-the-financial-system-for-money-laundering-and-terrorism-purposes-from-2027.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMLR defines<\/a> for the first time clearly which digital procedures are permitted in the future for identification in the context of money laundering prevention.<\/p><p>The focus is on three Europe-wide recognized methods:<\/p><ul><li><strong>National electronic identities (eID):<\/strong> State-issued digital identities with a confidence level of &#8220;substantial&#8221; or &#8220;high.&#8221;<\/li><li><strong>The European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet):<\/strong> By the end of 2026, every member state must provide an <a href=\"https:\/\/nect.com\/en\/products\/eudi-wallet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EUDI Wallet<\/a>. In the future, citizens will be able to use digital identity credentials throughout Europe. <\/li><li><strong>Qualified Trust Services (QTS):<\/strong> These include, in particular, Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) and Qualified Electronic Attestations of Attributes (QEAA), which are provided by qualified trust service providers.<\/li><\/ul><p>Document-based procedures remain possible, provided they comply with the requirements of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsi.org\/deliver\/etsi_ts\/119400_119499\/119461\/02.01.01_60\/ts_119461v020101p.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ETSI standard 119 461<\/a>.
