To zah\u0155\u0148a overovanie dokladov toto\u017enosti, ako s\u00fa ob\u010dianske preukazy, vodi\u010dsk\u00e9 preukazy alebo cestovn\u00e9 pasy, ako aj \u010fal\u0161\u00edch inform\u00e1ci\u00ed, ako s\u00fa doklady o adrese alebo bankov\u00e9 spojenia. Patr\u00ed sem aj hodnotenie rizika klienta. \u00da\u010delom KYC je zabezpe\u010di\u0165, aby spolo\u010dnosti neobchodovali s potenci\u00e1lne podvodn\u00fdmi alebo neleg\u00e1lnymi klientmi. Odvtedy je priebe\u017ene aktualizovan\u00fd a menen\u00fd. Ke\u010f\u017ee tento pojem je ve\u013emi \u0165a\u017ekop\u00e1dny, \u010dasto sa namiesto neho pou\u017e\u00edva pojem \u201eKnow Your Customer\u201c. V\u0161eobecn\u00e9 povinnosti starostlivosti musia uplat\u0148ova\u0165 v\u0161etky povinn\u00e9 osoby e\u0161te pred vznikom obchodn\u00e9ho vz\u0165ahu.
