Robo-Ident technology impresses: Hamburg-based Nect GmbH on the rise in 2020

Hamburg, 2021-02-26 The Nect app, an innovative solution for digital identification, was the most successful identification app in Germany in the second half of 2020 based on downloads and average user ratings. This reflects the rapidly growing acceptance of the technology by companies such as insurance providers, health insurance funds, and telecommunications providers. In total, around 60 million end customers of these companies now have the opportunity to identify themselves online using the Nect app.

The patent-pending Robo-Ident technology developed by the Hamburg-based startup Nect is a solution based on artificial intelligence (AI), through which companies can offer their customers secure and simple access to their digital services. Thanks to its user-friendliness and simple user guidance, the Nect app is the top-rated app in the field of digital identity verification, with 4.9 stars in the App Store and 4.7 out of 5.0 stars in the Google Play Store.

“We performed over two million identifications last year,” says Benny Bennet Jürgens, CEO and founder of Nect GmbH. “Extensive random checks by specialists show not a single case of fraud that went undetected by our technology. We have thus once again proven that our technology works, is available 24/7 without waiting times, and can be used in a wide variety of different industries.”

Due in part to its steadily growing customer base, the startup founded in Hamburg in 2017 by Benny Bennet Jürgens and Carlo Ulbrich is already operating profitably and can demonstrate stable economic performance.

“Nect has already significantly exceeded my expectations regarding its economic development,” says Carsten Maschmeyer, who has been invested in Nect since May 2020 as Managing Partner of the independent venture capital fund ALSTIN CAPITAL. Maschmeyer is convinced of the expertise from Nect as a base technology for digitalization: “Fast, simple, and purely digital identification will continue to gain importance in the coming years. More and more industries will be added as fields of application that are currently still stuck in the paper age. Their need for digital solutions will increase massively as customer behavior changes.”

The success and associated growth of the company is also reflected in the number of employees. Within twelve months, the Nect GmbH team grew from about 20 to around 65 employees.

Nect’s technology was first used in 2018 at R+V Versicherung. Since then, numerous other well-known companies have joined the customer base, such as HUK-Coburg and WGV Versicherung. In addition to insurance companies, organizations, businesses, and institutions from other sectors have also opted for the high-performance and secure solution, including Deutsche Telekom, the Federal Employment Agency, and the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank.

In addition to Nect Selfie-Ident, Nect’s core product, the portfolio includes other self-service products such as the eSignature (QES), all of which are based on Robo-Ident technology. Furthermore, it will soon be possible to use the eID function of the new German ID card with the Nect app.
