Fraud prevention through liveness detection
The patent includes an innovative function of Nect technology to ensure the recording time of a video. The function utilizes artifacts in image and sound that can be generated by a smartphone’s vibration module. This “digital watermark” ensures that it is an original real-time recording. Since the timing and intensity of the vibration are randomly selected by the system, identification attempts with pre-recorded videos are detected as faulty. This further complicates forgery and fraud attempts during identity verification with Nect.

Our proprietary, AI-based age verification includes an automated comparison between the expected age of users and the apparent age, determined from the ID photo and the selfie video. “Age Verification” is the right feature for you if you are obliged to comply with the State Treaty on Gambling and want to ensure that minors do not gain access to your products, services, and content.

gematik-certified procedure
Since August 1, 2025, the Gematik lists “Nect Ident with ePass” as the first and so far only remote video identification procedure with proven security suitability for the TI. It enables PIN-free use – users scan their ID’s NFC, hold it in the video, speak two random words – and can thus activate their eGK, receive a PIN, use online service centers, or create their health ID in the future. Particularly relevant: It works with EU identity cards and passports from over 180 countries – important for more than five million EU citizens in Germany.

Nect meets the trust level according to BSI-TR 03147 for the identity verification of natural persons. According to the current audit by an accredited conformity assessment body (November 2023), both the use of ePass (passports & IDs) and the automated video identification procedure are rated with a high trust level.
