Whether for registration for the electronic patient record (ePA) or the activation of the electronic health card (eGK), which is necessary for using the e-prescription, among other things: Before insured persons can use these digital services from their health insurance fund, they must confirm their identity. This process is now possible for a further 25 million insured persons of the German statutory health insurance funds connected to BITMARCK using Nect’s Selfie-Ident procedure. Previously, insured persons from Barmer and other health insurance funds in Germany already had access to the electronic patient record by using the eIDAS-certified Nect procedure.
Andreas Strausfeld, Chairman of the BITMARCK Management Board: “With the Nect solution, we have put together a comprehensive package for registration for the ePA – possibly the most diverse currently available on the market. By using the Selfie-Ident procedure, we are relying on state-of-the-art technologies and solutions in the interest of users and are pleased to contribute in this way to further improving the care of insured persons while at the same time facilitating access to digital offerings.”
And Nect CSO and co-founder Carlo Ulbrich also sees a long-term effect: “Through the collaboration with BITMARCK, Nect technology is now being made accessible to a large majority of German statutory health insurance funds. We are confident that we can thus make a decisive contribution to the digitalization of health insurance in Germany and optimally serve changing customer needs.”
With the AI-based Robo-Ident technology behind Nect’s Selfie-Ident,
users can identify themselves securely and completely independently in just a few minutes via the app, without the involvement of a third party, and thus gain access to their electronic patient record. All that is required is a recording of the ID document and facial recognition via a selfie video. In addition, BITMARCK uses Nect Selfie-Ident for identity verification as part of the eGK activation. For this purpose, the process is expanded to include a recording of the eGK to ensure that the person to be legitimized is actually the insured person. The collaboration with BITMARCK is a further milestone for Nect GmbH in the establishment of its technology and an important step on the way to a digital healthcare system in Germany.
